The fridge is not always stuffed, and every now and then I take a peek in the fridge to see if I can make any kind of meal out of it. This day it was time to finish the Pommes Duchesse off. Even frozen food has its limited shelf life. And so I though it would be a nice thing on the side with the Quiche (Broccoli, Taters and Minced Beef). Turned the oven on, and not sooner than 20 minutes later I was able to pop everything in the oven. Yum.
Now a little more background information regarding the title;
My granny, a gifted cook (I learned a great deal about cooking from her) always tought me that food, no matter how untasteful it is prepared, tastes, looks or smells, food stays food. On the other side of the world there’s millions of people starving, so never ever EVER consider food to be disgusting.
Back to this day and age. I got the Pommes and the Quiche wonderfully draped on a plate, a glass of Rosé, and dinner was all set to be eaten. Got the shots. Got the sauces. Got the knife. Got a first bite of the Quiche. And another one.
…
I can’t quite remember how I described it, but it was something like: This is not what my tastebuds were expecting. I won’t use the word “yuk”, but this is Not so Yum. Looking at it from the positive perspective, I’d say: luckily we got some more room in the fridge now, let’s stuff it with Yummie stuff.
